Patient and Public Voice (PPV) in Health & Justice Commissioning

NHS England and NHS Improvement are inviting tenderers to bid for two Patient and Public Voice (PPV) Contracts. The successful tenderer(s) will ensure PPV runs through all NHSE/I Health and Justice (H&J) Adult & CYP Services across the London footprint.

With the introduction of the Health and Social Care Act (2012) all healthcare commissioning for those in secure accommodation, transferred to NHS England & Improvement (NHSE/I).

The NHSE/I Health and Justice team (London) holds the responsibility for commissioning healthcare services in all London prisons, young offender institutions, criminal justice liaison and diversion services; police custody suites; immigration removal centres, sexual assault and referral centres etc. Therefore as part of its legal duty and the Department of Health's policy to "Treat patients and service users with respect, dignity and compassion", patient and public voice (PPV) sits right at the heart of NHSE/I's statutory responsibilities.

As part of the National and the Health & Justice teams agenda for the continued development of PPV across NHSE/I's corporate and operational services, we are keen for our patients and service users to remain key stakeholders and to work collaboratively with us to improve existing services and to help shape future services. To achieve excellence in all health and justice service outcomes, we use baseline mapping of current delivery and examples of good practice to inform our work programme and to build appropriate service models for London and promote on-going service improvements to ensure equity of access to services in secure settings and in key community settings, therefore, the PPV Providers that are awarded these contracts will support the H&J team achieve these goals.
